Alberto Texido Zlatar
Alberto is an Architect at Universidad de Chile. He has a PhD in Architecture and Urban Studies from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and DEA ETSAB UPC Barcelona. Alberto is a Professor at the Architecture and Urbanism Faculty from Universidad de Chile and has developed workshops on coastal urbanization and City-Port relationships. He is former president of Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile. Alberto developed his doctoral thesis on the urban and infrastructural evolution of the seaport city of Valparaiso in the 19th Century. Some of his noted publicaciones are: ¨La ciudad portuaria como soporte de memoria urbana: Reactualización cartográfica y registro infraestructural del Valparaíso decimonónico¨, (Portus N° 26, 2013); ¨Expansión infraestructural e invisibilidad urbana: una alternativa de compatibilización para la ciudad puerto patrimonial de Valparaíso¨, (Portus N°29, 2015); and ¨La interacción ciudad puerto en Chile: oportunidades e imposibilidades desde un desierto institucional¨, (Portus N°31, 2016). He is editor of Plataforma Urbana (www.plataformaurbana.cl), member of Corporación Metropolitica (www.metropolitica.cl), and occasional columnist of El Mercurio de Valparaíso and the electronic newspaper El Mostrador.
The Coastal Solutions Fellows Program builds and supports an international community to design and implement solutions that address coastal challenges across the Pacific Americas Flyway. Our main goal is to conserve coastal habitats and shorebird populations by building the knowledge, resources, and skills of Latin American professionals, and by fostering collaborations among multiple disciplines and sectors.
