Osvel Hinojosa Huerta (Program Director) presented the principles and strategies of the Coastal Solutions Program and Medardo Cruz López (2020 Fellow) presented the progress in his project to recover shorebird habitat in Ceuta Bay, Sinaloa, Mexico.

  • Illinois Ornithological Society Speaker of the Month: Coastal Solutions in Mexico and Chile

    In this webinar, Osvel Hinojosa, Jonatham Vargas (2019 Fellow) and Sharon Montecino (2019 Fellow) shared the progress and outcomes of the Coastal Solutions Program, with emphasis on the projects in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico and the Mouth of the Maipo River in Chile.

  • Hydric Diaspora: Coastal Solutions for the Restoration of Huizache-Caimanero

    Alejandro Canul Turriza (2020 Fellow) participated in the webinar “Hydric Diaspora: Young Mexicans Explored the Knowledge Frontiers”, organized by the Mexican Institute of Water Technology, with a presentation about his Coastal Solutions project for the restoration of the Huizache-Caimanero wetland system in Sinaloa, Mexico.

  • Third Biannual Congress of Asociación Calidris

    As part of the Congress of Asociación Calidris in Colombia, Richard Johnston (2019 Fellow) presented the talk “Shorebird habitat changes in the American Pacific between 2000-2020” and Diana Eusse (researcher at Calidris and Board Member of the Coastal Solutions Program) presented “Evaluation of ecosystem services in two community councils of the Colombian Pacific”.

Coastal Solutions Fellowship Program

The Coastal Solutions Fellows Program builds and supports an international community to design and implement solutions that address coastal challenges across the Pacific Americas Flyway. Our main goal is to conserve coastal habitats and shorebird populations by building the knowledge, resources, and skills of Latin American professionals, and by fostering collaborations among multiple disciplines and sectors.
